Old Bridge in Tenerife

According to a handwritten inscription on the back of the painting, it depicts the "old bridge at Lago, Laguna" on Tenerife. In 1913, Paul Müller-Kaempff travelled to the Canary Islands. The voyage was linked to a lucrative commission from the Oldenburg-Portuguese shipping company for 24 large-format paintings. The company had acquired the steamship "Tenerife" that year and Müller-Kaempff, who was born in Oldenburg, was to paint views of the eponymous island for the ship's salons. The present work was unknown until the present day.
