Paul Sérusier
1864 - 1927
Fées aux balles d'or N°5 ou Femmes aux pavots

signé du monogramme de l'artiste (en bas à droite)
tempera sur toile
38,3 x 97,3 cm; 15⅛ x 38¼ in.
Peint en 1912.

L'authenticité de cette œuvre a été confirmée par le Comité Paul Sérusier.

Condition Report:
This work has been examined framed. The canvas is unlined and inspection under UV light reveals no obvious signs of retouching. There are losses and some areas of paint lifting to the bright red pigment along the lower edge and to the right part of the upper edge. There are further tiny spots of pigment loss in places, not visually distracting, including a spot to a leaf close to the left edge. There is a small indentation with a spot of associated adhesive which fluoresces under UV just to the right of the centre of the upper edge. There are very fine lines of craquelure to the thicker areas of blue pigment towards the right edge, only visible upon extremely close inspection. This work is in overall very good condition.

Provenance:
Galerie Druet, Paris (probably)

Galerie Liatowitsch, Basel

Galerie du Chêne, Lausanne

Acquired from the above by the present owner in 1995
