Grosse Mondsichestele Wunderlich characterized the female figure with geometric clarity. The crowning crescent refers to the moon goddess Diana. Diana is the goddess of free nature, fertility and hunting, protective goddess of women and birth. As virgin, mother and huntress, Diana represents the cycle of birth, life and death as reflected in the phases of the moon. It corresponds in many ways to the Egyptian Isis, with the Greeks it was called Artemis. Her cult was spread over the whole ancient world. This sculpture is made of fine bronze, cast by hand using the lost wax technique. Elaborately patinated and polished by hand. Limited edition of 150 numbered and signed copies. Height including Diabas base 120 cm, weight 13 kg. Paul Wunderlich belonged like hardly any other artist of our time to the truly style-defining artists of modernism.
