Paule Thévenin - Carte autographe signée [Polémique ayants droits d'Antonin Artaud] - 1968

[ translate ]

Autograph card signed, undated, addressed to Cher Roland.

Paule Thévenin, close friend of Antonin Artaud, engaged in a legal battle with the poet's beneficiaries for the publication of his Complete Works. Despite the absence of legal value, Artaud had designated the receipt of income from his books and translation rights. After Artaud's death, Thévenin clandestinely published his Complete Works and transcribed his Cahiers d'Ivry with the help of Gallimard, under the pseudonym Marie Dézon. Disagreements persisted between Thévenin and the rights holders concerning the publication of certain texts by Artaud, testifying to tensions around his literary heritage.

This letter was written in this context:

"My life has been entirely determined by the text of Antonin Artaud. I have never been anything other than a place where this writing passes. I can therefore give you the measure of my confidence by telling you that for the papers of which I am only a depositary; I had named Jacques Derrida, Philippe Sollers and Julia as executors. "

Paule Thévenin also asks her correspondent when he would be available to dine with Rose and André Masson: “Rose and André Masson ask me to ask you on what day you would be free to come and dine with them. ”

Condition: See photos for details.
Reminder dimensions: 15 x 10 cm.
Number of pages: 2 pages

Carefully sent in a rigid, waterproof cardboard box.
