Biography
Founder of the Kielce School of Landscape Photography, an artistic movement that favors a broad and straightforward perspective on the landscape and an analysis of its structure as shaped by farmers. A graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology (1962), he has been a member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF) since 1964. He made his debut at an exhibition of artistic photography in Częstochowa (1955). Initiator, co-organizer, and director of the ZPAF branch in Kielce (1975), as well as founder and creator of the Świętokrzyskie District of the ZPAF (1978). After 50 years of creative work, Pierściński decided in 2004 to burn 262,000 of his own exposed negatives in his home coal stove in response to a lack of interest in acquiring his archive. He did not want the negatives to end up in the trash after his death.
