One of only 150 sets produced by Simon Lawrence at the Fleece Press. The Box, bibliography booklet and engravings are all in Fine condition. Five engravings all housed within their own individual printed folder. Paper size 40 x 32 cm. The engravings are : 'The Return 1925', 'The Carol Singers 1930', 'Marsh Marigolds 1930', 'The Smithy 1930', 'The Mother 1931'. The 16 page bibliography on hand made paper is housed within its own folder. It details and references amongst other things, the bibliographic details of each of the engravings. A very scarce production. With the scarce Ashmolean Museum 'Claughton Pellew Wood Engravings' 1987 Exhibition Catalogue 1987. This pictorial card catalogue is in Fine condition with 35 B/W plates. The Fleece Press are due to release : 'Ploughshare & Hayrick, the Life and Work of Claughton Pellew and Kechie Tennent later this year. 'Claughton Pellew was born in Redruth, Cornwall; he studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London alongside Paul Nash and Nash's brother John. Many of his works had a religious theme. His output was not large, but it was strikingly individual, often using a white line technique.' (British Council Visual Arts). More images available on request.
