Perfume bottle - Louis XV - uranium glass

Very rare perfume bottle in ouraline, cap richly chiselled with flower decorations, from the 19th century. Height: 9 cm In a very good preserved condition, micro scratches, wear on the neck, dirt and signs of age (see detailed photos to judge its condition) . Internal plug probably added. As the reign of Louis XIV came to an end, the mores of the Court evolved. The new olfactory sensitivity of this refined society is reflected in an intolerance of strong odours. A movement in favour of hygiene and bathing took shape in the 18th century, materialised by the emergence of non-existent spaces in homes: the toilet and the bathroom. The Court used waters produced by perfumers, which were as subtle and delicate as the bottles that contained them.
