Abraham-Louis Perrelet, (9 January 1729 – 1826) , born in Neuchâtel in Switzerland, was a Swiss horologist. He was the founder of the PERRELET watchmaking firm and the inventor of the self-winding mechanism, which he introduced and sold to Breguet. Since more than 250 years the name of Perrelet is a synonyme of highest quality and great style. The Perrelet watch making legacy has been accredited for some of the most important watch making innovations during the last three centuries, including the invention of the self-winding mechanical watch in 1777 by Abraham-Louis Perrelet.
