Persian dagger with a scabbard featuring enameled floral dec
Persian dagger with a scabbard featuring enameled floral decoration. Iran, 19th century. 39 cm. This khanjar is a fine example of Persian enamel work on copper. Part of the floral decoration is enameled on a white background, and another part on a blue background, creating an interesting contrast. The scabbard clasp bears a barely legible inscription, likely corresponding to an enamel artist’s mark. The double-edged blade, made of Persian Damascus steel, is slightly oxidized and features no decoration. (visible wear on the enamel decoration and gilding; oxidation on the blade)
