Lengthy and interesting personal letter from David Ben-Gurion to Zivah Schwartz of Rechovot.
In his letter, Ben-Gurion writes openly and at length about the reasons which prevented him from ascending to the Land of Israel, "My father was a lover of Zion years before Herzl's appearance," with respect to the precise date of his immigration "I came here on 17 Elul/ 6.9.1926." Regarding his friends who came with him, "I came here with two friends: the author Shlomo Tzemach and his young (girl)friend." About the difficulty of acclimatization and the beginning of his time in Israel "I wasn't accepted by anybody, there were no institutions for absorbing new immigrants ... I went to Petach Tikvah ... and Kfar Saba and Rishon LeTziyon ... the youngest colony in the Galilee ... and after that to Zichron Ya'akov. And much more. Ben-Gurion concludes his letter: "I wish you success in your studies, and that you be a pioneer."
