Peter Bagge (1957)
Peter Bagge The Complete Neat Stuff Interior Cover Original Art (Fantagraphics, 2016). Deranged talk-show ringmaster Studs Kirby loses all control in this masterful introductory piece. Neat Stuff, the comics magazine, was Bagge's prelude to Hate, the serialized graphic-novel epic of the 1990s. It was Neat Stuff, in fact, that yielded Bagge's signature character Buddy Bradley, who would become the hard-luck protagonist of Hate. But we were talking about Studs Kirby -- a distinctive Bagge personality in his own right, seen here in all his paranoid-maniacal glory. Autographed at lower right. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an edge-to-edge image area of 14" x 16.5". Excellent condition. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
