While this print, has not been examined out of the frame, it appears to be in generally excellent condition. Visible upon close examination are occasional tiny rust-colored deposits in the margins and one near the upper edge of the image. There is a soft handling crease in the right margin. The sheet is gently rippled.

In the lower margin, Beard has annotated in pencil the following: 'for The End of the Game/Last Word from Paradise,' 'from the Hunting Blocks 28+29' and 'into the wasteland of TSAVO ("Starvo")' and 'Darajani (nr Mtito Andei).'
