This print is in generally excellent condition. The sheet is gently rippled. As is typical of Beard's practice, there are occasional deposits of blood and ink on the image and in the margins. There are graphite markings in the margin corners.

Annotations on the mat as follows:
'"We have lived in the best time and seen the wonders of wildlife and belong to a brotherhood the numbers of which have memories that cannot be matched. We have lived on into a new world which I do not pretend to understand." Sir Alfred Pease in a letter to Teddy Roosevelt 1909'
