Peter Macchiarini (1909-2001), was a San Francisco based sculptor and jeweler. Some of his jewelry designs featured multi-layered constructions called pods, that used layers of metal and patinas to create depth within an object. Another example of Macchiarini's pod bracelet is illustrated in Marbeth Schon, Modernist Jewelry, 1930-1960, The Wearable Art Movement, 2004, p. 37.
