Peter Pan Peter Pan Original Animation Drawing (Walt Disney, 1953). "What's the matter? Don't you know?" "Oh sure, it's...it's just I never thought about it before. Say, that's it! You think of a wonderful thought." Wendy asks Peter how they'll ever get to Neverland which stumps Peter for a moment, so he perches himself on top of a chair in this original animation drawing to better remember the technique of flying. The 14th Walt Disney classic animated fantasy film Peter Pan was theatrically released on 2/5/1953 over 70 years ago, based off the play by Scottish novelist and playwright James Matthew "J.M." Barrie (1860-1937), it follows English siblings, Wendy and her brothers, as they are whisked away to the enchanted world of Neverland by the hero of their fairytales, Peter Pan. The boastful adventurer was portrayed by Bobby Driscoll (1937-1968), who not only voiced but also served as the live-action model for Peter Pan, his performance was filmed and then rotoscoped for the animated film. Even though his character was animated, he was the first boy ever to play the titular character of Peter Pan since before then the role was only portrayed by girls. This amazing piece was created by directing animator, Milt Kahl (1909 - 1987), who is one of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men" and a Disney Legend! Peter's full, hand-drawn figure, measuring 3.5" x 6.25", is masterfully rendered in graphite on 3-peghole animation paper and can be seen around the 16:34 timestamp of the animated feature film. This masterful drawing is noted 88 in the lower right corner. The overall condition is Very Good with minor handling wear and edge wear. From the archives of Disney Legend Manual Gonzales.
