Petrus Christus, follower of

Virgin and Child under an arch

Oil on panel. 61 x 43 cm.

The original work by Petrus Christus, the model for this in the upper part slightly cropped composition, is housed in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest.
In contrast to the Budapest painting, a cardinal's coat of arms has been added to the lower part of the arch on the left of the present composition and a cartouche with a monogram and date on the right: P.P.C. / A° 1441.
