Pewter-mounted German Faience Tankard, 1750s, blue and white painted chinoisorie style design. Bulbous form. Monogram on lid SMM and date, 1754 (likely). Unmarked. Cohn and his wife, Varya, amassed antiquities from Greek, Roman, Etruscan and Egyptian cultures that were shown at LACMA in 1990, and the museum opened a permanent installation of the Cohns' collection of ancient glass pieces the same year.
