1913 - 1980

Garden, Roma

oil on paper mounted on panel
20 by 28 in.
50.8 by 71.1 cm.
Executed in 1971.

Condition Report:
This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling to the edges and corners of the board. The lateral edges of the board are separating very slightly in places, which is not visible when framed. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the surface fluoresces irregularly which is largely the result of the artist’s process. Also under Ultraviolet light inspection, there are several small areas within the composition and along the edges that fluoresce darkly and appear to have benefitted from light retouching. Framed.

Framed dimensions: 25 1/2 by 33 5/8 in. (64.8 by 85.4 cm.)

Provenance:
Dore Ashton, New York (acquired as a gift directly from the artist)
Private Collection, New York (acquired by descent from the above)
William Shearburn Gallery, St. Louis
Private Collection, New York
Barbara Mathes Gallery, New York
Acquired from the above in May 2017 by the present owner
