The painting is signed on the lower right side and on the back of the work. It is properly framed. Philippe André Georges Monteagudo Duc (Paris, December 29th, 1936 - Fuentealbilla, Albacete, July 14th, 2016) was a French painter based in Fuentealbilla, Albacete (Spain) . In 1964 he settled in Montmartre and fully devoted himself to his art. He painted large format paintings where grey and red dominate and whose main characters were prostitutes, drunks, outcasts, victims of war. Thanks to a collector from Luxembourg, he exhibited at the Louvigny Gallery and he obtained a huge success. Art dealers and collectors made his works known in the rest of Europe and in the United States. He received the Savigny-sur-Orge award, he travelled around Italy, he painted the Venice Carnival. In 1970 he finally returned to Spain and he settled permanently in Fuentealbilla. The landscape from La Mancha and the rural types entered into his paintings. He exhibited his works at the Círculo de Bellas Artes of Valencia. His works are preserved in numerous private collections (Paris, London, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Venice, Amsterdam, Madrid) and at permanent exhibitions such as the Verhoff Gallery in Washington or the Pieter Breughel Art Gallery in Amsterdam, among others.
