retouches.

Originally classified as an anonymous print by the School of Marcantonio Raimondi, the work was attributed by Bartsch to Philippe Soye, a pupil of Cornelis Cort. On the other hand, Massari considers it closer to the style of Giulio Bonasone. Dumesnil, vol IX, p.136 / 137, n.2; Bartsch.XV.5; Massari 'Raphael Invenit, no. 14.

Rare proof on paper with the watermark 'Shield with letter M and star', Briquet n. 8392, Ferrara 1580. Perfect condition of the sheet, with thin margins beyond the platemark.
