Philippe Starck - Sculpture, Alessi - Juicy Salif Studio n.3 Limited Edition 522-999 - 29 cm - Multiple in cast bronze - 2021

[ translate ]

Designed by Philippe Starck in 1988 and released in 2021 on the occasion of 100 years of Alessi (1921-2021) in a limited edition. The "Juicy Salif" has become an icon and one of the most popular items in the Alessi catalogue. A truly iconic object and symbol not only of Philippe Starck but also of Alessi himself, this citrus juicer - revolutionary as it is, was sketched in its essence by Starck during a seaside holiday in Italy, on a pizzeria napkin. A plate of calamari begging for a squeeze of lemon juice inspired Philippe Starck for what would become one of the most controversial talking points of the 1990s and 2010s, generating countless heated discussions about its nature and meaning.
\r
This limited edition (number 581/999) ''Juicy Salif'' is the first design (1988) of the famous ''Juicy Salif'' with rotating slots. Later in 1990, the design was changed to the regular ''Juicy Salif'' with straight slots, which is still produced today. This is to allow the juice to flow easily into the glass.
\r
Spider, sea monster, alien or space rocket, Philippe Starck's iconic citrus juicer is presented here to the public in its original version. Multiple cast in bronze. Limited edition of 999 numbered copies worldwide and 3 artist proofs. This ''Juicy Salif'' sculpture is part of the Alessi 100 Values Collection, a special initiative that celebrates, on the occasion of Alessi's centenary, the values that define the identity and practice of the "Dream Factory". A collection of surprising objects, drawn from the archives of the Alessi Museum: objects never produced until today, unpublished versions, icons caught in their evolution. True collector's items!
\r
This limited edition ''Juicy Salif'' is new with original packaging, certificate and documents.
