Phoenician Scarab with Apis Bull
6th-4th century BC. A carved green stone scarab with ropework border to the underside surrounding the Apis bull with horned sun headdress, an inverted crescent and four incised characters. 16.1 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). From a private Belgian collection; previously part of a private collection formed in Germany in the 1990s. Dr Bonewitz notes: 'An exceptional job of carving.'
