San Vendeilino:

An Irish legend says that he was a monk, but there is no confirmation of this. Instead, we know that, between 561 and 565, he arrived in Germany, in the then vast diocese of Trier, one of the oldest in Europe, led in that period by Bishop Magnerico. There are then some hints about his figure in a life of Saint Magnus, abbot of a Bavarian monastery, who died in the 8th century.
Other, nothing; almost. There are four biographies, two in Latin and two in German, but they were written eight or nine centuries after his death, remaining unreliable; first of all because of their generic nature: they state things that are good for many Saints, and do not contain evidence from the time in which Vendelino lived; and then, generally the story of the life of a Saint supports and strengthens their veneration, whereas in those documents it is almost the opposite.
But there is a fundamental and unequivocal element that "speaks" about Vendelino and which demonstrates his sanctity: it is the spontaneous devotion to him. It spread immediately after his death, and then from century to century, and was officially consecrated in 1450 by Pope Nicholas V.
The cult of Vendelino tells us that this Irishman who emigrated to Germany was a hermit, and above all an "agricultural" saint, to whom hundreds of chapels and churches have been dedicated in the countryside, in various parts of the European continent: in particular in the French region of the Vosges, in the Saar and in Bavaria.
Shepherds, crops and livestock are entrusted to his protection.
