Original and with a strong personality, 'Ouverture' is a sofa designed by Pierluigi Cerri at the beginning of the 1980s. A prototype piece with a strongly technological style, destined to revolutionise the furnishing sector. 'Ouverture' references industrial and metropolitan styles. . The 'Ouverture' sofa has a body edged in lacquered black steel, set on a steel cross bar, which is lacquered like the rest of the structure. The sprung seat is made from elasticated fabric. The seat, backrest and armrest cushions are padded with goose feather and have a stabilising expanded polyurethane insert. The sofa is upholstered in Frau® leather. Pierluigi Cerri graduated from Milan Polythechnic, where he was taught by Umberto Eco. He was a founding partner of Gregotti Associati in 1974, with whom he won architectural awards. A member of Alliance Graphique Internationale, in 1976 he managed the image of the Venice Biennale; he was responsible for the image of the Kunst and Ausstellungshalle in Bonn and the Palazzo Grassi in Venice He was editor of the magazines 'Casabella' and 'Rassegna' The sofa up for auction is in good condition with minor age-related signs of wear.
