Pierre Alechinsky / Hugo Claus - Gans België

[ translate ]

Artist: Pierre Alechinsky / Hugo Claus
Technique: Offset print
Signature: Hand signed
Title
All of Belgium
Number 70 of 150
Dutch version

Description
Just like his work 'Sorte de jeu de lotto', by Pierre Alechinsky, his goose game 'Gans België' fits in well with his love of filling boxes. The Cobra snake is prevalent.
The map consists of the representation of old documents. These traces of the official world are in stark contrast to the grid of the game of chance.
The fact that Hugo Claus composed the text cannot only be explained because the client, Europalia, wanted to pair the then most famous Belgian painter with the equally famous writer, on the occasion of 150 years of Belgium in 1980. Hugo Claus has situated himself within the Cobra style throughout his life with his visual work.
