Pierre Alechinsky, pioneer of the avant-garde group COBRA, was, together with Christian Dotremont, the driving force behind the Belgian department. This work, here, is a beautiful example of his typical "drawn frames" or "edge illustrations". In some later works this frame even became more important than the title page. This work was purchased in the Galerie de France in Paris in March 1976. The purchase price then, converted into euros, was €8,000.00. So 48 years ago. The work itself dates from 1973 and is signed and dated on the front and back by Pierre Alechinsky himself. Accompanying it is the signed and stamped certificate from Myriam Prévot-Douatte, director of the Galerie de France, dated on the day of purchase. This gallery owner, Myriam Prévot-Douatte, held no fewer than 7 major exhibitions on the life and work of Pierre Alechinsky. So she was a renowned Alechinsky expert. Dimensions: 70.50 cm x 50 cm (= frame 1 cm) and is made of acrylic and watercolor on drawing paper. Reason for sale: downsizing of own collection due to lack of follow-up, age and serious illness. Opening bid: €6340.00. Good luck .
