For auction a very rare and exquisite pair of Empire torches-candelabra made by the celebrated French 'bronzier' Pierre CHIBOUT. Together with Piere Philippe Thomire, Galle and Rabiat, Pierre Chibout was one of the leading artists of their time. Pierre Chibout worked together with Claude Francois Rabiat and took over his Parisian workshop in 1815. These torches-candelabra are of outstanding quality and design. To my knowledge even unique in the world. The Arcanthus leaf design very lively and executed with deep bronze reliefs. The fluted columns in patinated bronze which gives a beautiful contrast. The top decorated with Oak leaf and an inserted ring of shell design. Inside this you will find the bobeche for the candle. The condition of these torches is excellent, the gilding superb and the patina of the columns have no traces of rubbing.
