As early as 1893, Pierre Eugène Montezin tried to exhibit at the Salon des Artistes Français. Rejected ten years in a row, he was only accepted in 1903. At the same time, he became friends with Quost who made him work on drawing and developed his taste for painting. He enlisted in 1914 for the First World War and received a military medal after the battles in the Meuse. After the war, Pierre Eugène Montezin resumed painting and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français upon his return. He returned to Paris in 1919. He was then married and lived with his family. He moved to Neuilly-sur-Seine with his wife and daughter in 1924 and divided his time between work in the studio and stays in Veneux-les-Sablons where he owned a house that he decorated with frescoes. In 1933, he was unanimously elected president of the jury of the Salon des artistes Français. During the inauguration ceremony, 237 paintings were on display. He also exhibited in 1936 at the Galerie du Journal, avenue des Champs-Elysées, in 1938 at the Galerie Durand-Ruel, avenue de Friedland, and in 1943 at the Galerie Raphaël Gérard. Rewarded for his painting, he won several medals, including the Rosa Bonheur Prize in 1920. In 1923, he was made Knight of the Legion of Honour, and in 1940 was elected to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vuillard's chair. Pierre Montézin died suddenly at the age of seventy during a work stay in Brittany. He was found on a roadside with a box of paint and some canvases.
