Pierre-Jules Mene (French, 1810 - 1879): Bronze Sculpture: Chasse au Lapin (Rabbit Hunting), 1870s.
Dimensions, approx.: 15 x 8 x 7 inches.
The bronze group also known as Three Dogs Ferreting or Trois Chiens au Terrier and features three very detailed dogs around a rabbit hole under a rock.
First presented in wax at the Exposition Universelle in 1855, and in bronze, at Salon in 1872.
Pierre-Jules Mene was a French sculptor and animalier considered one of the pioneers of animal sculpture in the XIX century.
