Pieter van Noort (1622 - 1672) was a Dutch painter of still lives, often with fish. He was born in Leiden as the son of Derck van Noort and was not, as some sources claim, the son of Pieter van Noort (c. 1592 - after 1634) . This work was offered in the 19th century by art connoisseur H. P. Bremmer for an exhibition in which his works were exhibited. A label is still present on the back of the work. The work was also part of the collection of Brinkman, a collector of works by Vincent van Gogh, as can be seen from another label on the back. The painting was long ago professionally doubled. The paint on the canvas is in good condition. His work can be found in the following collections: Rijksmuseum , Amsterdam Dordrechts Museum , Dordrecht Mauritshuis, The Hague Museum De Fundatie , Zwolle Condition: good. Frame: framed in a brown wooden frame, possibly from a later date. Signature: Parts of signatures visible in the lower right corner. Edition: original.
