(Source: Wiki) Pietra dura is a term for using cut and fitted, highly polished colored stones to create images. The stonework is glued stone-by-stone to a base after being sliced and cut in different shape sections; and then assembled together so precisely that the contact between each section was practically invisible.---------------------------------------Davids notes: The label on the back:Antica Scuola Di Arte Musiva, or Ancient School of Mosaic Art is more likely a business, than a school, but it doesn't really matter.The quality of the Pietra Dura on the other side is excellent, whether it came from a business or a school.Probably from the 1960s.
