Square pilgrim plaque in black stone from the Pala Dynasty (NE-India), 11-12th century. The obverse with a figuratively carved circle presumably illustrates the 10 incarnations of Vishnu. In the center of the circle a knobby protrusion. The back divided into 9 fields, with central figure of Vishnu flanked by Bhudevi and Shridevi. Above Vishnu, Gaja-Lakshmi is seen flanked by two elephants. Under Vishnu, Garuda is seen. Rosettes in the 4 corners.
