“Pink Satin Bow" signed ‘Catherine Jeeves’, ca. 1889, England
This elegant still life oil painting depicts a richly composed tabletop scene featuring a bouquet of chrysanthemums, a wine glass, grapes, and a pink satin bow—the latter providing both the title and a striking focal point. Executed in a soft, realistic hand with vibrant color and detail, the painting is housed in its original ornate giltwood frame, adding decorative charm and vintage character. The work shows strong influence from late 19th-century English and Continental still life painting. One vintage typed label reads:“Pink Satin Bow, signed ‘Catherine Jeeves’, Eng. ca. 1889”, suggesting the painting may be an original work by an English female artist active in the Victorian era. A second paper label reads:“CANDEN BOGAERDE LTD – Ghent, Belgium – Made in Belgium,” likely representing the distributor or exporter that handled the painting in the mid-20th century. Dimensions?Height: 36.5 inches . Width: 26 inches.
