Pittore del 17° Secolo, Seguace di Godfrey Kneller - Ritratto di donna

[ translate ]

Antique painting, oil on canvas, dating from around the last quarter of the seventeenth century, depicting a Portrait of a Woman. Of great quality and condition, the high artistic ability as well as the analysis of the drafts suggests the attribution to an artist with narrow stylistic affinities and probably close to Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723) artist who studied in the workshops of Ferdinand Bol and Rembrandt , and that in the 1670s found himself in Rome where he was a pupil of Carlo Maratta and Bernini, and then in Venice, working on historical subjects and portraits. Painting probably created by a follower or an artist in contact with Kneller during his stay in Italy, as suggested by the drafting and by the shades of the draperies, which are clearly affected by the influence of the Italian manner of the time. Framed with nice lacquered and golden frame, from a fairly recent period. In more than good overall condition considering the age of the painting, a few scattered restorations of very slight entity. Slightly dirty, but it does not seem to need cleaning. The original canvas has an old relining that gives no evidence of any kind of preservation problem. The stretcher was probably replaced at the time of the relining. Fine craquelure compatible with the age. Painting size: 73. 5 x 60. 5 cm - Frame size: 86 x 73 cm Shipping via insured express courier and packaged with the utmost care.
