Antique painting, oil on canvas, XVII century, depicting a penitent Magdalene. An evocative work, whose surface is decidedly curated and with passages of excellent quality. The painting can be traced back to an artist supposedly operating in northern Italy, around the middle of the 18th century. In overall fairly good condition, considering its age. There are old scattered restorations and some peeling of the surface. There are no conservation issues and the original canvas is supported by a recent re-lining that does not seem to require restoration. Fine craquelure compatible with age. It looks like the stretcher was replaced, probably when the painting was relined. With a beautiful and recent frame, golden and decorated with leaves pattern. Painting size: 66 x 51 cm.
