Plainview Meteorite Slice Ordinary Chondrite, H5 Plainview, Hale County, Texas, USA Found in 1917 during the World War I era in Hale County, Texas, the Plainview meteorite is an Ordinary Chondrite - designation of H5. First published by George Merrill, Plainview is associated with legendary meteorite hunter Harvey Nininger. This beautiful polished slab has a mottled yet rich brown coloration, and tiny metallic sparkles cover the smooth surface when angled properly under direct light. This thick, free-form shape offering exhibits number "92.781" consistent with the American Meteorite Laboratory system on the rough back. Based on weight, Plainview is one of the largest of all American meteorites. Overall Measurements: 5.28 x 3.56 x 0.34 inches (13.41 x 9.05 x 0.87 cm), weighs 256 grams [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
