Round dish with a stand, in Satsuma glazed stoneware. Japan, late 19th century/early 20th century. Signature on the back. A superb painted enamelled design with two animated scenes, one of an outdoor scene and the other of an indoor scene, surrounded by fan-shaped medallions with landscapes and wisteria on a background of chrysanthemum flowers and peonies. A golden Greek geometrical frieze on a brown background on the edge. Remarkable painting craftsmanship. The back is in crackled cream enamel. 24. 8 cm in diameter, 13. 6 cm at the heel, 4 cm high. It weighs a bit over 1 kg In good condition, the colours and gilding are nice and fresh. Very small trompe l'oeil restoration on the edge of the frieze, almost invisible.
