Aristide Michel Colotte
Poisson
1930
mold blown crystal, silvered metal
engraved COLOTTE and dated 1930
16 x 20 ¼ x 12 ½ in. (40.6 x 51.4 x 31.7 cm)
Condition Report:
Overall in good condition. The sculptural crystal presents with a great variety of surface treatments that are typical of Colotte’s practice. As pictured in catalogue photography, the crystal throughout presents with surface scratches, scuffing, chips, losses, shallow clamshell cracks, edge wear and surface soiling. The fish presents with two prior breakages, one running from the upper fin through the center of the body and the other running around the tail, which were stabilized at some point in the history of the piece. The silvered metal base presents with scattered surface scratches, abrasions, wear and losses to the silvering throughout consistent with installation of the sculpture. The underside of the base is applied with eight protective felt pads.
