Porcelain Humpback New York City Street Sign
Two-sided porcelain New York City street sign for 8th avenue at W. 127th (this intersection corresponds to a location in Harlem). 24.25" x 12.75". 12.95 pounds (5.8 kg). Some staining and oxidation of the metal frame. One side has some damage to the porcelain on the far left side of the "8th avenue" part of the sign. Note that the 8th Avenue and W. 127 parts of the sign appear to be separate pieces, though we cannot be sure. These were the standard street signs in parts of New York City from the 1910s through the 1960s. The main sign had 5 inch tall serifed white letters on a blue background with the cross street located in the "hump" using a small font size.
