Porcelain Plaque painted by C. Meinelt

A 19th Century Nymphenburg Porcelain Plaque, painted by Carl Meinelt (1825-1900). Painting on porcelain plaque is after Raphael's "Tempi Madonna", which shows young Mary embracing the Christ child. Signed "C. Meinelt" at the lower right, impressed marking (appears to be a crown surmounting a shield) verso. Some small losses and chipping along the edges-where the porcelain meets the frame. Plaque is approximately 17 3/8" x 21 1/4" high, within a gilt wood and gesso frame with some wear and damage, 27" x 30 5/8" high overall. ESTIMATE $15,000-25,000
