Condition Report:
The canvas is lined and stable on its stretcher. The image reads well beneath yellowed and discolored varnish. The paint layer has been flattened and the canvas weave is slightly visible through the paint layers but is not distracting. To the naked eye, scattered spots of discolored retouching are visible as well as small spots of uneven texture indicating old repairs. A prior horizontal canvas fold causing paint loss in the center of the canvas was repaired causing a line of retouching that is slightly visible to the naked eye. Under UV inspection, the varnish appears streaky and uneven and impedes inspection of restoration underneath. Offered in a decoratively carved giltwood frame.
