Portrait of an NCO (Tintype)

Sixth plate tintype of a Civil War non-commissioned officer housed in a half leatherette case. The subject's cheeks have been delicately tinted rouge and he holds a high-grade foot officer's sword that has a metal scabbard. Various elements of the image (the subject's chevrons, his sword, etc.) were gilded gold by the photographer/artist.

Wonderful portrait in immaculate condition. The case is missing one panel.
