Pottery Purim Plate - Clowns - 19th Century
Ceramic plate for the Jewish holiday of Purim, possibly used for Mishlo’ach Manot. The plate is decorated with three clowns carrying rattles and various musical instruments, and inscribed Purim in Hebrew at the bottom. Hand painted and glazed pottery. Unmarked. Apparently, Europe, circa the 19th century. Similar plates couldn’t be traced.
Diameter: approximately 22 cm. Good condition, cracked glaze, wear.
