LOT 0119

Pr Sheet Tin Masonic Archangels, Early 20th C

[ translate ]

A pair of early 20th century Sheet Tin Archangels from a Masonic Temple. The angels are painted gold (both sides) and measures 13 ½" across at the base and 17 ½" tall from the base to the top of the wing. Angels are in a kneeling position, hands folded in front. They can be hung on the wall or they stand upright with the custom wood stands. Cut from thin sheet tin, they are nearly (but not completely) identical when placed on top of each other; for example, the hands are not quite the same size when placed on top of each other and the face profile is slightly different. They are in very fine condition: gold paint is complete and there are no splits or crack. Nice mellow patina with only minor surface scuffing/scratching. I do not know where they originated, but they came out of a collection of Fraternal material sold at a local auction a number of years ago.
