Prada | 2008 Fall Navy Lace Evening Dress

Prada navy guipure lace evening dress designed for the fall 2008 collection similar to look seven from the runway show.

A long-sleeve guipure floral motif lace outer layer with a pale blush slip lining is complete with a matching lace peplum for dramatic flare at the waist. The dress features a fitted bodice with a defined waist and flared tea-length skirt. The back of the garment has a hidden opening a label on the interior that reads Prada and is marked an Italian size 42.

Sarah Mower who reviewed the collection spoke with the designer on the designs and heavy use of lace writing "Miuccia Prada is about to do for the lace industry what Nicolas Ghesquière did for flower printers last season?send the mills into frantic overdrive. After glimpsing a piece of lace in her studio and at first ignoring it she found the handmade fabric crept up on her to the point where it took over almost the entire collection. 'I thought using a little bit here and there is tacky so we've had all Switzerland working on couture lace. They're in shock ' Prada laughed after the show. 'When you are working on something simple the surface is important. I wanted to do minimal something that was feminine and strong?but in the end not so sexy. And there are a lot of references to early nineties Prada in there.'"
