The cover is modelled as a human-headed, bird-bodied figure with bound hair, a gold chignon on top, both hands holding a blow-pipe-like object. The body is fully incised with scale-and-feather patterns; the wings, tail and rim are bound with gold foil bearing copper rust. The body splits into upper and lower halves joined by a fitted mouth.
