**Pre-WWI U.S. Springfield Model 1903

World War I
.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 263273. Blued military finish. Walnut "S" stock has a plain straight grip and forearm, with humpback handguard and grasping grooves. Bolt action rifle with second variation M1905 notch rear sight and blade front sight. Item features an internal magazine, split barrel band, bayonet lug forend, triple stacking swivels, and a smooth trapdoor buttplate void of contents. Markings include U.S./SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/MODEL 1903/263273 to receiver in small serif letters. Barrel is marked SA/{flaming bomb}/6-07. Bolt safety and magazine cut off are marked with non-serif letters. Stock is marked with a boxed J.F.C James F. Coyle inspector cartouche on left side of wrist, along with circle P proof to bottom of wrist, and 27 to heel of comb. Item possibly assembled from pre-WWI parts.

From the Collection of Bob Lecount Arms, Armor & Militaria Good. Bore is frosty, with some light pitting to rifling. Finish has a mottled appearance due to scattered scratches and pit marks overall. Wood stock is in good condition showing few scratches and mars overall, with crisp cartouche marks.
