Thailand Ban Chiang period, 1st millennium BC Height: 20. 1 cm - Diameter: 15. 8 cm - Probably from the Khorat region (today Nakhon Ratchasima) Very good condition. The Ban Chiang archaeological site is a large prehistoric mound in the sub-district of Ban Chiang, Nong Han District, Udon Thani Province, northeastern Thailand. It is an oval-shaped mound, formed by human settlements, 500 metres by 1. 350 metres and eight metres high. The site was discovered in 1986. Since them, it has been extensively searched and relics studied by Thai and international researchers. The objects discovered there are date back to -5000 BC. in the 1st millennium BC for the most recent ones. The relics of the Ban Chiang culture are particularly rare and sought after Origin information: Bought by the current owner in March 2017 in Germany, from Bene Merenti Gallery No. 1501. Background to previous origin: former German private collection put together in the 1970s. The seller can prove that the lot was legally obtained, declaration of origin seen by Catawiki.
