FIRST EDITION, 3 volumes bound in 4, 4to (273 x 210mm.), folding hand-coloured engraved map, hand-coloured map mounted on front paste-down of volume 1, tinted lithographs on other front paste-downs, original blind-stamped cloth, volume 2 lacking 225-232pp. (with duplications of 193-200pp. inserted instead), scattered spotting, a few minor tears or repairs, slightly rubbed, sealing wax at foot of spines

David Price was a Welsh orientalist and army officer. "He devoted himself to writing long, leisurely works on Arabian, Persian, and Indian history. Of these the best-known and the most important is Chronological retrospect.. This covers the period from the death of Muhammad to the accession of Akbar" (ONDB).
