Prideaux John Selby (1788-1867, English), "Velvet Scoter, Male and Female," Plate 67, hand colored engraving from "Illustrations of British Ornithology," 1821-1834/1841-1846, presented in an ebonized washed frame with a woven mat, H.- 16 3/4 in., W.- 21 1/2 in.
Condition Report: The condition is consistent with age. The paper has yellowed due to age of piece. There is more discoloration around the border of the plate indentation. Additionally, there is no visible watermark on the front or the back of the piece by Selby. There is one minor crease in the middle of engraving. The actual unframed piece measures 21 7/8 H x 26 7/8 W.
